1)Can some one explain to me the encircled title ” Father’s salary – probable loot ” in biscoe school character sheet ?See point number 07 for possible answer ! 2)Do you know elites of Kashmir Especially elite pandits & elite Muslim from Srinagar were exempted from be”gar ( forced labour ) – they were offered freebies to keep them in good books of every succesive occupational adminstration .3) mughals & afghans and rangeet Singh occupied Kashmir ,elites Muslim with so called noble caste and Pandits elites carrying noblest gotras were given highest position but general public irrespective of Creed & colour were taxed like anything And some (ex- government diplomat) Sufis, Deedmari and Pandit Nand ram & Raj kak dhar like elites enjoyed highest offices of those occupational regimes – Pandit & Muslim elite and capitalist were against educating common kashmiris : —————————————————————-4) like wise if non elite Muslim even tried to dream about acquiring modern education – their elite clergy would discourage them or even at times ex- communicate them- when Mirwaiz started islamiya school at the request of sir Syed ,he was attacked by elite Muslim clergy -men – Aga Hussain Jallali faced same issue ,Pandit founder of M- dass school and rest of true Patriots.According to Septugenerian social activist from Rainawari Mohammad Sultan (Mama-Ji) – secretary trade association Qamerwari ,one who enrolled in English schools were nicknamed ‘’KIRRI’’ .Mirwaiz Rasool Shah started Muslim modern education movement even though he was heavily criticised by Hamdani Clergy and attempts were made to murder him by unknown gangs.5) Besides poverty, government policies ,reactionary clergy discouraged modern education among the muslim ( Reported by Zamindaar newspaper from Punjab ,Sep.1923).6) Thanks to common pro Kashmir nationalist Pandits and Muslim – they took a plight & educated even non elites kashmiris irrespective of Creed & colour In our area of chattabal , Pandit bushan Lal was among few who stood for his nation – he was my teacher aswell ,I learned math from him .7) According to Tyndale Biscoe, Kashmir in sunlight,pp.265, “At first near all 250 boys receiving instruction from CMS school were Kashmiri Pandits. They were sons or grandsons of the officials who bullied and squeezed the Mohammedan peasants for years past, and their large houses in the city, with all the wealth, were a standing witness to their looting power, for the salary they received from state was quite insignificant.”8) Glancy Commission, while inquiring about the poor representation of Muslims in S. P. College of Srinagar, was told that the Hindu teachers discouraged the Muslims from taking science subjects.( Glancy Commission Report, vide Dastawaizat, p. 100.)9) Discouragement of muslim education by Pandit teachers :The Muslims were not only suffering for want of adequate number of educational institutions for even elementary instruction, but more so they were discouraged by the Hindu teachers, who like other branches of the administration had monopolized the department of education too (Riots Enquiry Committee Report, p. 65; Malik Fazel Hussain, pp. 113-114; Bazaz, Inside Kashmir, p. 205.)10) My apology : I never intend to hurt any elite Muslim or Pandit – i am just quoting what I heard and read -i am ready to stand corrected – to err is human I myself started my kindergarten education from Pandit and my secondary education from a Muslim .If any one is hurt I apologise .

Dr Elizebeth Clark accompanying her husband , succeeded in setting up the first medical dispensary in the history of Kashmir in Srinagar, in May 1864 in a rented house & built
“Diamond Jubilee Zenana Hospital ” there which is now the site of the Government College for Women,
3)Maharaja Ranbir singh was against medical missionary set up in Kashmir as it would have exposed miseries of kashmiris under the most taxing & ferocious rule of Ranbir singh
4) Maharaja sent thousands of men and women protested their arrival, some even threw stones and threatened to set their houses on fire.
5) Robert Clark writes in his book “The house was literally besieged with men and noisy boys. They stood by hundreds on the bridge, and lined the river on both sides, shouting, and one man striking a gong, to collect the people. When I went to the Governor of kashmir to ask for protection, but he was not willing to help .
6) The police also announced that if any one rented a house to the missionaries, all the skin would be taken off their backs.
7) Clark medical mission led to huge success & led to formation of Christian medical mission ,India .
Elizabeth’s success as a doctor in Kashmir provided a “key” to Clark to unlock the minds of natives; subsequently he initiated the movement that resulted in the wide establishment of “Medical missions” throughout India
( Conclusion : Never give up )

Word to word translation of Page 2
The day Maharaja Pratab Singh ascended the throne, his brothers Mian Amar Singh and Mian Ram Singh were also formally inducted into services of autocratic rule & were given the title of “Raja ” .They remained in their posts and estates and from that time onwards Miya Amar Singh and Miya Ram Singh were called by name Raja Amar Singh and and Raja Ram Singh
It was only three or four days later that Colonel St. John’s Officer on Special Duty presented to Maharaja Pratab Singh an order from the Viceroy of India, Lord Dufferin, stating that instead of the Officer on Special Duty, there should be permanent resident in Jammu & kashmir
And Maharaja Pratab Singh should consult him in every matter and act accordingly. With the arrival of this untimely and in-appropriate order ، unrest spread in the country. Dewan Gobind Sahai went to Shimla and presented the order in the court of the Viceroy. After a long discussion and debate, the appointment of the resident was postponed in the state.
Disappointed with Jammu, he came to Kashmir and established Kothi Bagh Residency and raised the British flag on it . Dewan Lakshman Das opposed it and a quarrel ensued. Colonel St. John found the situation unfavorable and went to Sialkot. From there ,attempts were made to create chaos and disruption among the Dogra royal family & Ultimately divide them .Around the same time Maharaja Pratab Singh issued a royal decree for the benefit of general public ۔And list of the Benefits & concession are as follows :
In view of the benefits of subjects and the development of trade, the duty on import of goods has been waived. The former duty on import of goods will continue to be levied & toll tax posts were established on highways .

It is quite obvious that they traveled this long distance in search of their fortune.
5) The elder brother, Khwaja Abdul Wahab, went into business, straightaway, while the younger brother, Khwaja Abdullah, who was a very pious and a learned man, started preaching to the local people the rules and various disciplines of the teachings of Islam. It must have been for this reason that he was addressed as “Moulvi Abdullah”.

9) The Dhaka Nawab family was officially established by Maulvi Khwaja Hafizullah Kashmiri, who acquired considerable wealth via trade in leather and gold. His fortune was built upon trading leather, spices, and salt with notable Armenian and Greek merchants.[10] Akbar, M Ali. “Dhaka Nawab Estate”. Banglapedia. Retrieved 2 December 2017).
He also acquired Aila Phuljhuri in the Bakarganj Sundarbans, a 44,000 acres (180 km2) area bought for Rs 21000 in 1812, at a revenue demand of only Rs 372 annually( Akbar, M Ali. “Dhaka Nawab Estate”. Banglapedia. Retrieved 2 December 2017.) Tareekh -Azmi bring an anecdote ,were in Soni shawl request ” Khan’s” of Deccan to help in renovating shrine of Maqshband sobun – my learned teacher Ustad @Massudul Hassan Kanth asked me ,a week ago ,that how are Khan’s of nowpora ,khayar related to Naqshband sobun ,I hope ,query is answered.

12) Khawaja Ghani Kashmiri constructed roads ,hospitals ,colleges in Dhaka and along with he contributed to renovation of Nehr e zubeida ,canal traversing through jazirat tul Arab
Other contribution :
Before Kashmiri Khawaja came to Dhaka ,Thomas Bowrey, a British merchant sailor, visited Dhaka in the 1670s. In his book, A Geographical Account of Countries Round the Bay of Bengal .He mentions “City of Dhaka is a very large, spacious one, but stands on low, marshy, swampy ground, and the water of that ground is very brackish, which is the only inconvenience”
